How this place is kept

plaintext is invite-only and tended by one host, by hand. There is no rules engine, no filter scanning your posts for banned words, no committee, and no appeals board — every removal begins the same way: someone presses Report, I read what happened, and I make a judgment call. You’re a guest here, and so is everyone else.

Be cool, and use your words. Hold unpopular opinions and defend them; argue passionately, and change someone’s mind if you can. Abusive speech will be removed at the discretion of the host. Genuinely illegal content is removed, no discussion.

Nothing here is watched. Posts aren’t scanned before they go up, and no one is reading over your shoulder; every moderation decision starts because a member pressed Report. If nobody reports something, no one is looking for it — the place stays civil because the people in it choose to keep it that way, not because they’re being monitored.

Not every report leads to a removal. Being blunt isn’t bannable, being sarcastic isn’t bannable, and being wrong isn’t bannable. The bar is cruelty, hate speech, always at the discretion of the host. The point is not to prevent disagreement; it’s to keep disagreement worth having.

If you’re removed and you genuinely think I got it wrong, email me. A person — not an automated system — reads it. You get one review, and that decision is final.

If this sounds too strict, too subjective, or like too much rests on one person’s judgment — that’s a completely fair thing to think, and there are enormous platforms built around solving exactly that. This isn’t trying to be one of them.
